CareLink™ Personal Software Support

What is CareLink™ Personal software?

CareLink Personal is a free, web-based software that enables you to download your diabetes devices and see historical data that has been collected in the form of graphs, charts and reports. These reports can help you to understand the effects of insulin dosage, eating habits, exercise routine, and medication on your glucose levels and are the key to improving your diabetes control. Seeing this information in chart, graph, and table formats allows you to better identify patterns and problems that will help you work out the root cause of your low and high blood glucose levels. How much does it cost?

CareLink™ Personal software is free of charge. All you need is internet access and a CareLink™ connectivity device (CareLink™ USB or compatible blood glucose meter to connect your Medtronic insulin).   If you are using the Guardian Connect™ standalone CGM system please ensure you enable 'sync to CareLink' from the settings menu to automatically sync your data to CareLink™.  Please contact your Customer Service team on 01923 205 167 for more information or assistance.

How do I access CareLink™ Personal?

To get started with CareLink Personal you will need:

  • Access to a computer with a reliable internet connection systems running the following system: Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 Desktop, Windows 10, Mac OS X 10.12/10.13 / 10.13 High Sierra
  • Internet Explorer 10/11 Desktop (Windows), Safari 10/11 (Mac OS X), Firefox 38.  Please Note: Browsers such as Edge, Chrome, and regular Firefox version 52 and above (not Extended Support Release) have Java plug-in restrictions that will prevent uploads of your devices if using the Java upload method.  We recommend using the CareLink Uploader method for uploading your device data to CareLink Personal
  • Adobe® Reader version 5.0 or higher
  • A CareLink USB connectivity device (white USB or CONTOUR NEXT LINK if you use a MiniMed Veo insulin pump or black USB or CONTOUR NEXT LINK 2.4 if you use a MiniMed  640G insulin pump)
  • A blood glucose monitor (with an appropriate cable if you would like to download this into CareLink Personal separately. You will need to ask your meter manufacturer for this cable)
  • Install the CareLink Uploader to enable you to upload your device without the need for Java

​Register with CareLink™ Personal

  • Register on the CareLink Personal website: https://carelink.minimed.eu
  • "Sign in" using your username and password or select "Sign up" and follow the instructions to create your CareLink Account

How do I upload data from my device?

If you are using the Guardian Connect standalone CGM system, ensure that 'Sync to CareLink™' is enabled in your settings on the device running the GuardianConnect App.  If you are using another device, you will need to download and install the CareLinkUploader.  This is a one-time installation per computer you wish to use to upload your Medtronic device.  Watch the below videos for more information or download the Uploader Installation & How To Upload Guides

How long does it take to upload data?

Frequent data uploading (i.e. every 2 to 4 weeks) will provide uploads in about 2-4 minutes depending upon frequency of insulin pump use and CGM features.

How can I share my treatment reports with my diabetes healthcare team?

CareLink™ Personal software is designed so that you can easily collaborate with your diabetes healthcare team.  If you haven't already done so, speak with your healthcare team and provide them access to remotely view your uploaded data so that you can save time in clinic and better collaborate with your team to make any refinements to your therapy.  Your diabetes healthcare team will be able send you a request to view your data which you can provide only with your explicit permission and personal password.  View which hospitals you are sharing your data with by clicking on "My Info" in your CareLink™ account.

How do I create reports?

From the main "Reports" Tab, select the date range for the report(s) you wish to generate.  Then select which bundle of reports or single report you would like to see.  When you're ready, click "Generate Reports" to produce your reports in PDF format.  Each report is displayed as a PDF file in a separate window so you can save to your computer if you wish.

I've forgotten my password. What do I do?

Simply click on the "Forgot your password?" link displayed on the login area of the home page and a temporary password can be sent to you via e-mail. The temporary password can be used to access the system for up to 24 hours after it has been issued and you will be prompted to create a new password for use on subsequent visits.

How frequently should I use the software?

Frequently uploading data has two advantages. First, it takes less time for each upload to be completed because less data is being copied. Second, because your device (e.g. insulin pump) cannot hold more than three months of information, frequent uploads will help you avoid gaps in your data over time. Your healthcare professional may recommend how often you should upload data from your device. Generally we recommend uploading every 4 to 6 weeks.

Is my medical and personal information secure?

Medtronic is committed to ensuring that all your personal information is kept private and protected. The CareLink™ system uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), a data encryption technology similar to the online bank standard, to ensure that data is unreadable during the transfer. CareLink™ Personal software complies with the strictest privacy regulations in the world, including GDPR, HIPAA guidelines, and your information is processed in accordance with the applicable European Data Protection laws.
